Day Planners: Product Overview

Ensure you’ll never again miss an important appointment or project deadline with a day planner.

Even in our technology-centric world, there’s always a need to jot down notes and quick reminders when you’re not near your PC or without a PDA. With a day planner, you’ll have an inexpensive, time management tool to record the dates and times of upcoming meetings, or provide extensive notes and details for each upcoming event.

You can find a standard, ready-to-use day planner to fit your needs or customize a day planner from an assortment of materials, sizes, colors, and styles. Depending on how you want it to look – and how much you want to spend – you can find the option that best suits your needs and tastes.

Types of day planners
Generally, you’ll find two types of day planners: wire-bound and loose-leaf.

With wire-bound day planners, you can easily flip to the pages you need to work with and fold the book back countless times without damaging the binding. These models are slim and easily fit inside standard briefcases or even coat pockets. Wire-bound planners are best if you only plan to use it for the year and then store or discard it when finished.

If you are purchasing a higher-grade planner with monogrammed leather or suede, loose-leaf day planners are best. This allows you to remove the contents and replace it with new clean sheets and other accessories so you can reuse the same custom planner for years to come.

Page layouts
Depending on how much information you need to work with, you can get a different page layout for your planner:

  • 1 to 2 pages per day – Provides the most space for you to make your notes; useful if you need the most details for an entire year
  • 2 pages per week – View your entire week’s schedule at a glance
  • 2 pages per month – For basic notes and to map out an entire month at once; best design for ultra-thin planners
