Anything can happen on moving day — no matter how well you plan. Read some stories or share your own moving experience.

Fine furniture reduced to kindling, delivery trucks lost for hours, malfunctioning doors that lock everybody out — most of the stories you hear about companies that move their offices are disasters. Good planning can reduce the chances of these things happening — but it can't guarantee a smooth move.

Missed connection mars otherwise smooth move
We heard from one online PR firm that put together their move in less than two months. Thanks to a significant planning effort, they managed to get everything done in time — with one exception. When they arrived for work on Monday following the move, all their furniture was in place and their computers were set up — but their Internet connection wasn't working.

You can probably imagine that for a firm that focuses on the online world, a non-functional Internet connection pretty much wipes out the entire day. Fortunately their connection was up and working the next day, so the end result was more of an inconvenience than a disaster. Tip: setting up Internet access can take six weeks or longer, so schedule your service hookup well in advance. Find an internet access provider — free!
